Samaritan Center's Tax Credit Program available

With tax season comes the Samaritan Center's Tax Credit Program.

To help clients help themselves, volunteers help file state and federal income tax forms.

Many clients have found they were eligible for tax credits or refunds they otherwise would have left unclaimed.

No financial assistance will be given to clients through the Samaritan Center unless they can show proof of filing for tax credits. However, they still would be eligible for food, clothing, medical and other non-cash assistance.

This policy is indicative of the holistic approach the Samaritan Center takes in assisting people.

Last year through the Earned Income Tax Credit, Property-Rental Tax Credit, Child Care Credit and other refunds, clients received more than $81,270.

In operation since 1987, the Samaritan Center in Jefferson City is a non-denominational interfaith support agency which serves more than 1,300 families per month in the Mid-Missouri area.
